Can you size the dos window that comes up when you run kix using a script? Would like to make mine smaller and without the scrollbar? Thanks

well...
you can control in which size it will open the next time by writing it to registry.
I must wonder why you want to do that?
why you don't just leave the console out totally?

Yeah, just use wkix32 and loose all the ugly DOS boxes and console windows.

You can use regshot to see the stuff that needs to bee changed. Can be downloaded at http://regshot.ist.md/
I use it all the time. Just make a dump of your registry, change the settings in the normal way (not in reg) and take a second shot. Compare and you’re done.

Tried to download it but all I get now is below, must try later.

quote:

HTTP Error 403
403.9 Access Forbidden: Too many users are connected

This error can be caused if the Web server is busy and cannot process your request due to heavy traffic. Please try to connect again later.

Please contact the Web server's administrator if the problem persists.

Try it, you’ll like it.

I had been using it do display information about the user and connection progress. See link...
www.fusionxstudio.com/images/login.jpg

I don't necessarily have to have it show this but it looked good.

barclay, that's damn fancy!
no, as to do with the same with kixforms:
$form=createobject("kixtart.form")
$form.borderstyle=0
$form.size=300,200
$form.center
$form.backcolor="black"

and so on.
think you have got a nice console there but as consoles are history, you might want to try out KiXforms

Barclay:

Don't want to piss you of or something; this is just my personal opinion.

We used to use something with sort of the same layout and colors you use. Got really sick of it and switched to kixforms. Can do some realy need stuff with it. http://www.kixforms.org

Like said, this is my opinion don't take it personal.

I'll look into them, don't mess with kix a bunch but I had found that script a long time ago and stuck with it and haven't touched much. I'll read up on the forms, hopefully that will be better for me. Thanks!

I’m willing to post or mail the form I based my logonform on if you wish [Confused]
Very flexible and easy to change to your needs and corporate style.

Well, I use kixtart for some time now but got really interested when I switched from console stuff to kixforms.
Catching up on my kix skills now and became some sort of kixaholic I guess [Big Grin]

Wow, why haven't I looked at kix forms before??? Awesome, I have a VB guy that would love this and could build some sweeet stuff. I would love to see your login script R2D2 please email to me.

One question I used the wkix32 but still have the dos window that pops up while form is open. Is there a way to eliminate the dos window opening?

Thanks

Like said catching up on my kix skills. Used postprep once. I'll try to postprep my script at work tomorrow (don’t got my script at hand now) and post it here. Must change some company specifics to general stuff first though [Big Grin]

Got some stuff printed to console?
Like:

code:
?@USERID

or something.

heh [Big Grin]
funny boy...

indeed, you get console window if you throw stuff out of your script to console.
easiest way to get that fixed is start your script with:
$rc=redirectoutput("my_debug_file")

this way you will see what your script is giving out and you will be able to clean it up easily.

on the other hand, you can leave the redirectoutput there and do some debugging info in the file by just saying:
"user homedrive mapped with error: " @error

I think that's specially neat with logonscript and problems are easy to catch.

Barclay:
Check your mail. It's in there somewhere.

As promised. Our logon script based on kixforms. The example I based it on seems to be deleted accidentally [Roll Eyes] (cleaned up my desktop and crap drive this week and forgot to give the example a logical name) but as I recall correctly I got it from www.kixforms.org. Thanx to the original editor, whoever that might be.

We have almost each function (lower part of the script) calling an external script to keep the code readable and not get a script with 50.000 lines of code. Sort of difficult to find errors in that [Embarrassed] . I used the kixforms dll v2.3.0
Beta 3.
It's not that fast at startup because of the massive amount of info displayed but this is done at managements demand [Frown] .

Files available for download here , including the screenshot. I removed all output info from the screenshot for privacy reasons.

Sorry Doc little to busy to post prep it. More time on Monday, will post a post prepped version then. Download the package or wait until Monday.

[edit]
Added post prepped script.

$nul=SetConsole("Hide")

that is a line in the script.
that is a line that never should be in GUI enabled script.

if you want to support the old console version of kix, please do at least check which one (kix32 or wkix32) is used.

as this line makes console to SHOW up on many wkix32 versions, it should be avoided to the extreme.
