I agree DOC is great & jpol is great too, we should find a way to make this work. If we wish to move to 3 moderators in some forums, maybe Bryce might also like to put his name forward? (Richard is also an obvious but he does't have the time or do you Richard - with 3 moderators maybe?)
MCA,
About the poll. Like Les, I am not sure this is the most effective strategy. (And yes, I know that the last to recruitments sort of used polls.) First, we don't get a mass of volunteers & second the total number of votes tends to be 15 or less & the winners often win by a vote. Also, we run into the possiblity of someone winning in more than one forum. I think that our moderator pool is getting big enough that maybe we might leave it to the moderators to choose. Maybe modertors should nominate candidates & only they vote. I think this is pretty close to what is happening anyway. [ 26. February 2003, 20:26: Message edited by: Jack Lothian ]

Hmmm... Jack may be close to the truth.
MCA How many members have posted 25 or more posts in the past 30 days?
I think most of us already know who are regulars. With nearly 7,000 members, I bet there are 20 or less that actually ACTIVELY particpate on almost a daily basis.
I'm agreeable to just about any method you guys want to use, but I'll throw in my 2 cents as well.
I nominate Radimus, NTDOC, and Jochen, to become new or continuing MODERATORs for the UDF Forum.
If anyone else wants to Moderate as well, please reply here and say so. There are plenty of other good candidates, but either here or via MSN I've heard many say they don't want to Moderate the UDF Forum.
Otherwise if we don't here from you, we can assume that:
1. You're on vacation and missed this posting. 2. You don't want to be a Moderator 3. You're too busy to Moderate 4. You're too shy to nominate yourself 5. You don't really care one way or another 6. You're not a daily actively participating member, so you probably don't have time to Moderate the Forum. 7. You don't like the choices, but your a silent observer. 8. You've moved on to another site or job positon and don't visit here anymore or rarely. 9. Only you know why you're not posting yourself as a nominee. 10. KORG rocks and you're happy no matter who Moderates the UDF Forum.

Dear,
What interesting conclusion we see about different timezone moderation. In some situations it can be very handy, but for the more quiet forums it isn't really necessary to have three moderators. Not necessary when a quick reaction isn't directly necessary. For the UDF forum it is a special situation and for the FAQ forum the possible problems with chaos on it doesn't exist. Possible other forums for a three moderator are in our opinion "starters" and "scripts" forums.
It isn't the goal to remove other moderators from forums. The goal with the idea about a three one was "UDF forum may require a quick firm moderation".
NTDOC, see our BB Top25 part I page to get an impression about the amount of posts. Mostly the 25th members doesn't posted 25 or more posts in one month. For the information of February you must wait for this weekend.
who should mail us
Everybody can send me a mail. Everybody who has interest to become a moderator.
Also people of our TOP25 list who doesn't want to be moderator can mail us of course.
For people missing this discussion. No problem: in the future this request will return on the board.
For people who have the intention of becoming a moderator in the future may mail also. Of course we know that the condition about available time or your position may change.
For people who think "I am not a good moderator, because others make the suggestion 'I should be active on a daily base'" it is a problem to nomination himself. Not all moderators are active on a daily base. We are very sure about that. Oh, what can it be lonely on the kixtart community during weekends.
greetings.
btw: we think that the only wish by other moderators is that you as moderator inform other moderators about you wish to go into retire- ment. [ 27. February 2003, 03:09: Message edited by: MCA ]

Dear Radimus,
This list doesn't directly show what the history of a poster is. Also only two MM-guys aren't at the moment moderator. The additional information on that "BB Statistics - BB MM-Club" page shows how regular a MM-poster can be. greetings.

Dear Lonkero,
Someone must collect the interest for members to become a moderator. At the moment we have receive only a few. People may also put their nomination to this topic.
When ther are no trouble with three moderators for UDF forum we suggest Henri to extend that list with the new moderators. greetings.

Dear Lonkero,
First we need some guys for the UDFs and it must become clear who have interest to become moderator. Of course it is possible that at the same moment on so- me other forums seats come available. Available - after moving to another forum as moderator - by upgrading to a crew of three persons. greetings.

Dear Lonkero,
Of course we will do first some house-keeping with f.e. current moderators. Only one post after finishing our discussion to Henri must be enough. After wednesday 5 March 2003 we will send the complete list around. It contains already more names then you are mention. greetings.

BTW... I do agree that we should have 3 moderators for most (if not all) the forums.
if Les (for example) found himself in the middle of an internet blackout in the wilderness of Canada then a number of forums would be out half of their moderator staff. The same would apply to Doc and Lonk...
I propose that we apply RAID 5 to our moderator staff for the other forums also... and perhaps limit the number of forums 1 member can moderate. I think 2 would be sufficient. Moderators of FAQ would be an exception to this as it is limited in traffic and doesn't need as much babysitting.
Geographic diversity of moderators would also be of value to the users of this board

Dear Lonkero,
We were very surprised, when on a silent moment the moderator status was changing. It is in our opinion not very fairly. Members on the board was told, that they overthink their dedication as moderator. This morning they will see, that their feedback becomes meaningless.
As moderators we should always be fair against our members. We must do the things we are promissing.
Because the discussion about a third moderator for some forums is still open members still can nominate him- or herself as a moderator.
Please send us a mail when we are interesting in a moderator-ship. Please inform us also for which forum you a preference has. The date of closing for nomination is still Wednesday 5 March 2003.
greetings.
btw: why restart a whole discussion about guidelines for UDF forum. Please Les can you tell what elements in your opinion needs a refreshment.
