Specific the first two weeks. Also it is possible, that with all the good information on the board there are no questions anymore. November 2002 - the busiest month - we see during the working days 50-65 posts less. Lonkero, can you be more specific about what resources your BBchecker needs. So how much data will be transfer during one hour period? Do you have an indication about the amount of users of your BBChecker script? Some months ago we were confrontating with low responses of KIXTART.ORG server. Low responses during the 15:00-17:00 period. Low responses can make newbies a- fraid of using it. I have no clue on the real load on the server and it's b/w either as it's configurable by all users how often it checks the server. For 20 users the server should support about 1 Mbps. The great amount of requests have also impact for other users. During the last months of 2002 we see a great amount of members active and nearly 75-100 guests at the same time active. Possible that the usage of BBChecker and this amount of active people reduce the preformance of 'kixtart.org' server. Our suggestion is that BBChecker users stops processing this scripts during slee- ping hours. Also it can be useful to reduce possible check rate a little bit. Default settings are Post check interval 20 secs and PM check interval 3 mins. In most situations is a rate of 45-60 secs enough. After reading and replying to new posts this period is enough. Possible Lonkero you can put some information on the board what in your opinion are acceptable rates for BBChecker in different situations. I would luckily do something dynamic around it and maybe on quiet time raise it to 5 mins or so... it's possible, but to get solid figures, I would need to query the forums... in worst scenario 44K times 8... now, if that is dropped to 5mins, it still is much and 5mins... it's not checker anymore. it's then just like your data on the web... something for archiving. also, if there was printerFriendly or lonkero friendly view of the forums page... that should drop the load 90% _________________________ ! download KiXnet
