there is no much to say.
modem users should have 30-60s depending how much their connection is lagging.
all others should never need to go under 20 or over 30.
that is due to update need of the main page.
I would luckily do something dynamic around it and maybe on quiet time raise it to 5 mins or so...
it's possible, but to get solid figures, I would need to query the forums...
in worst scenario 44K times 8...
now, if that is dropped to 5mins, it still is much and 5mins... it's not checker anymore.
it's then just like your data on the web... something for archiving.
also, if there was printerFriendly or lonkero friendly view of the forums page... that should drop the load 90%
