Added as -
Local vs. RAS Connections
I am sure there will be more details needed, but is a good start.
Thanks Rad!

I don't know if this fits in the scope of this..
That is..

Of course, it assumes that the author of a script has knowledge of, and access to, their local SMTP server... there's always something...[sigh!]

[Moderator (Sealeopard): Activated anti-long-lines-policy]
Kent, here is another method.
Email via "CDONTS.NewMail"
#Generate Email #--------------
code:
my $objCDO = Win32::OLE->CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail"); $objCDO->{From} = "User Name <SMSAdmin\@tycoelectronics.com>"; $objCDO->{To} = "$EmailAddr"; $objCDO->{Subject} = "Software Notification for PC $PCName"; $objCDO->{Body} = "$EmailText"; $objCDO->{BodyFormat} = 0; $objCDO->{MailFormat} = 0; $objCDO->Send; $objCDO = 0;
quote: Software Requirements The dynamic-link libraries for CDO 1.2.1 (CDO.DLL) and CDO 1.2.1 Rendering (CDOHTML.DLL) are MAPI client object libraries. As such, they require MAPI (the version of MAPI32.DLL installed with Microsoft® Exchange Server version 5.0, or above) and service providers—for example, the same service providers as with Microsoft Exchange Server. CDOHTML.DLL and CDO.DLL are included with Microsoft Exchange Server and are installed on the server when the installation option Active Server Components is selected. CDO 1.2.1 Rendering (CDOHTML.DLL) is intended for server-side use only.
Microsoft® Outlook™ 98 installs the CDO 1.2.1 libraries. To enable client applications to use CDO 1.2.1, install Microsoft Outlook 98. For server applications, install Microsoft Exchange Server version 5.5.
Note CDO works with Microsoft Outlook, but CDO.DLL is not installed with the Microsoft Outlook 97 setup program.

Sorry, had a Priority 1 ticket arrive that needed attention then found it was probably just a dumb client issue on a couple computers.
Has anyone else ever run into a system error 32 on the client when logging from the logon script? I am thinking the client's NAI AV software is causing contention because the AV software had no file exclusions configured.

Howard,
I am not ignoring you.
But, I am having trouble running: code:
break on $objCDO = CreateObject("CDONTS.NewMail") IF @error <> 0 ?@error " CDO not found" SLEEP 2 EXIT 1 ENDIF $objCDO.From = "CDOTest" $objCDO.To = "user@@domain.com" $objCDO.Subject = "Software Notification for PC" $objCDO.Body = "More Testing" $objCDO.BodyFormat = 0 $objCDO.MailFormat = 0 $objCDO.Send $objCDO = 0
Thanks!

Function modSendMail($strTo, $strFrom, $strSubject, $strBody)
;declarations Dim $iMsg Dim $iConf
$iMsg = CreateObject("CDO.Message") IF @error <> 0 ?@error " CDO Message not found" SLEEP 2 EXIT ENDIF $iConf = CreateObject("CDO.Configuration") IF @error <> 0 ?@error " CDO Config not found" SLEEP 2 EXIT ENDIF $iConf.Item(cdoSendUsingMethod) = $cdoSendUsingPort $iConf.Item(cdoSMTPServerPort) = 25 $iConf.Item(cdoSMTPConnectionTimeout)= 10 $iConf.Item(cdoSMTPServer) = "smtp.server.com" ;$iConf.Item(cdoURLGetLatestVersion)(True) $iConf.Update
