Jens,
Yeah, I was a VAX/VMS (formerly PDP/RSX/11-M) MACRO32 programmer for the longest time, ever since getting out of college in about 1984 or so ... can still remember using the EDT editor on REAL VT100 terminals - not sure if anyone remembers those old clunkers or not. Remember on or about 1985 getting our first VAX6000 mini into our shop - it had a staggering 64MB or memory - nearly floored us at the time.
It was comforting to know that when I first got into WindowsNT (1997), learned that Dennis Cutler (aka Mr. RSX and VMS) was the guy that architected Windows NT. VAX/VMS is still to this day (imho) the best and most stable OS I have every worked on. Unlike Unix - it had a rock-solid standard for commandline syntax ... was a joy to work with at the time. Anyways, I'm starting to ramble ...
Let me guess though ... this VAXstation is used for some kind of real-time monitoring activity ? We Still have of some old PDP's that are still being used to this day ! [ 20. November 2002, 17:31: Message edited by: Shawn ]
