There is an absolute consensus that there is confusion between the 2 types of FAQ – 1 for the BBS & the other for kixtart. 2. There is an absolute consensus to rename the FAQ at the top of the BBS pages. The new name of “UBB FAQ” seems to be the most favoured. 3. There is a consensus on changing the name of the link at the bottom of the page. The few who spoke on this issue all seemed to agree with Les’ idea of changing “Kixtart scripts” to “Kixtart.org Home”. 4. There appears to be a consensus on renaming the Kixtart FAQ but there is a division over the choice of a new name. 5. There appears to be a division of opinion on whether or not to add a special link to the Kixtart FAQ & where this link might be placed. Given these points, I suggest we launch a poll to resolve points 4 & 5 and that we go with the consensus on points 1 through 3. _________________________ Jack

Also, I don't think anyone else responded to this suggestion so I have no idea if the others liked the idea. I tell you what though I will work this point into the poll. I don't have time to think this through tonight since I brought home work & I don't have much time. I will try to get it up tomorrow or saturday. My thinking is that as it is now (the faq link) some may click on it looking for the FAQ forum and get UBBfaq instead. By putting a link to the FAQ Forum on the UBBfaq page, we stand a chance to grab their attention. On the other hand if we rename the link to UBBfaq, there is a lesser chance they will confuse it with the FAQ Forum but also a lesser chance we will be able to snag their attention. Let me use as an analogy the practise of using misspellings of common websites to grab wayward surfers. f.e. www.micorsoft.com I figure the more ways to get ppl to go to the FAQ Forum the better. Then there's the issue of where would we put a link to the FAQ Forum if we made the UBBfaq link less ambiguous? The way most sites are found today is by Google or Yahoo etc. and that will take you deep inside a web. Lonkero Lonkero KiX Master Guru Registered: 2001-06-05 Posts: 22346 Loc: OK	we thought that also the kixtart org main page could be updated on other parts as well. link for udf collection is not bad nor is changing the text that states that 4.11 is the newist release. we also think that release notes could be updated as well as the doc. we think same aplies with the main doc link (top of the page) which still points to kix95.doc also command reference is outdated (not current for a year now) we see that if henri is too busy to update these, we could ask him to allow someone else to do that. _________________________ ! download KiXnet
