Hmmm... shall we run with this...Yeah, maybe some kind of a "Fringe" forum that can encompass COM, WMI, ADSI, WSH, etc. Just so long as it still involves KiX. OH, OH, OH, and games too! Work on the "Fringe" concept... somthing so far "out there" that it challenges the forum rules... We'd need a moderator... Who's our most dedicated "automation" guy? Shawn, Bryce, CJ, Kent, ..., just going down the list of top posters. Anyone want to volunteer?

Hey guys,I think the COM forum idea is a good one. It's different enough to warrant it's own forum and it's 100% kixtart related so it's got all the justification it needs (imho). But ... might have to question the timing of it. Do we really see enough COM related questions (today) to warrant a seperate forum ? Having said that, I feel that as Windows 2000 domain slowly (so slowly) gains momentum and as the installed user base of KiXtart 4.0 grows, these types of questions will grow substantially over time. Plus, a COM forum will help advertise and showcase the fact that KiXtart isn't just for login scripts anymore ... it's just as powerfull and as vital as all those other scripting languages normally associated with Active Directory & WMI and ADO/SQL ... even more so in my opinion ... [rant off] (was it on?) What was my point again ? Oh yeah - timing ! What do you guys think about timing ? -Shawn [ 01 December 2001: Message edited by: Shawn ]

OK Shawn, let's look at it closely...What's the ratio of ADSI/COM postings to UDF? I think it's a close match. There's been a lot of good COM stuff put out there and they got buried real quick. I don't think anyone would argue the value of the UDF Library, and having the same for COM would be equally beneficial (IMHO). I think we're just scratching the surface with this "automation" and having a forum that showcases it will help, particularly in cases where WSH is proposed to replace KiX. We've got to show them that we can do better. So Shawn, are you volunteering to moderate, and what do you think of the "fringe" concept? With fringe, we could include Popovk's request for a third party utility. New forum for external utilities ? OH, and J's GAMES too!
