Has anyone heard of any problems with drive mappings not working correctly for Windows XP clients under Kix 3.62 in a Windows 2000 Native Domain?

Win9x, W2k and Thin clients work fine. But Sometimes, not always though, Windows XP clients will not map their drives.

MS tends to think this is a KiXtart problem.

Does it happen only during login or also when running the script from the console?

I have not tried running the login script from the console yet. Interesting idea. If it fails or works at at the console, what would that tell us?

I have had problems in general (lockups, etc) with 3.62 and XP. Went to 4.02 and life is good.

When mapping does not occur, it is for all the drives. I have not looked at the XP logs. Good idea. I'll do that and see if there are any clues.

There is a known issue with XP where if you logon early in the boot process the script doesn't run at all. Wait a couple of minutes for the net to init and it's fine. There's a policy to force it to wait for the net.

Search the board.

fwiw...
I have been witnessing extremely s_l_o_w drive mappings on WinXP Pro clients mapping to NetWare shares. [Mad]
From what I can gather so far, this is supposed to be fixed in XP SP1.
