This is the full extended version of the Outlook/Exchange profile generation script.

Still working on setting the default font.. {Now Works!}

Is there a way to create outlook profiles on remote PCs (being a member of the Domain admin group)?.

I did setup outlook profile generation for all users during logon, however, sometimes I get a request to create a second profile on some PCs to allow secretaries to access the manager's e-mail, and I would have to do it manually on the PC. So I was thinking if I could have a way to create any user profile remotely.

You don't need a second profile for this. Just have the manager give the secretary limited access to their email and the secretary can then open the manager's email from within their own Outlook profile. It's under 'File - Folder - Other User's Folder'.

I forgot to say that we are not using Exchange, we are still stuck with Ms Mail 3.5 and outlook 2000 as clients. Any takers?.

Sorry I just came back. Was on a two-day holiday. Have not played around with MS-Mail. I have also done quite a bit of debugging to get this working with Kixtart 3.63 as well as Kixtart 4.10. I will be posting the updated version tomorrow.

Updated script to address issues seen with different versions of Kixtart as well as versions of Windows. Did not get a chance to test with Windows 9x, but did test on NT 4.0, W2k, and WXP.

Is there already a faq of some sorts for the above exchange profile script? I'm new at kixtart and cannot completely follow what the script does, and more importantly, which files it needs and in which location.

Yes.. There is a FAQ that addresses this - Exchange/Oulook Configuration.

In the original script, I added in a README for this. However, there is a lot of detail and broke this apart.

Thanks, I have the script working now.
Great script btw!

There is one problem with deploying profiles with this script; some of our users have an extra shared mailbox in their outlook profile, (added to the profile in tools, services, exchange, advanced, etc.) and some users have a personal folder which is located on the network in their homedir.

Is it possible to define the extra mailbox in the outlook.prf? If not does anyone have a possible workaround for this and the personal folders issue?

I have played with that. However, it appears to be done on a Random Seed (meaning the keys change each time you add in a mailbox).

What I wound up doing is building an AUTOIT http://www.hiddensoft.com/autoit script to do this. Essentially, it opens Outlook and does the keystrokes to add in the additional mailboxes and then closes Outlook. I know you could use SETFOCUS/SENDKEYS to do this all in Kix.

Is there a way not to have outlook launch if the outlook profile has been created for the current user?. I undrestand that a new user needs to be configured during the initial logon but is this always necessary?

How about some type of backup routine as well?

Here is an idea for doing such with the Command Line Add-on for WinZip.

Adding the ability to grab the location or other items would be nice as well.

I would thnk that you could apply this to the PST, PAB, for Outlook.

The NDX, MBX for Outlook Express.

I see that you are using your SID (911A4FD9-6787-449B-979A-E2D63B09FD8A) I suppose we could translate that into @userid?
