This post is spawned from the Board Effectiveness Post

[I think]We need an easier way to share files due to the obviously expanding complexity of the projects that are being released.

I was going to make this a poll but saw little value as this topic deservse more discussion.

Who thinks we could benefit from a centralized open source repository like sourceforge.net? From what I have noticed, there have been several somewhat large projects posted to the forum in just the past week. A problem that I see is in the dissemination of the of the packages and certainly with version control.

Does anyone have the time and resources to manage such a project? We don't need a pretty website; a closely monitored FTP site would be a *great* start. If data laundering is a concern, maybe only supply the moderators with upload accounts? A web implementation of a CVS type system would be incredible, but low hanging fruit seems more attractive at this point.

Or, is this just a plain dumb idea?

Note:I haven't tried submitting a kix project to sourceforge?
