heheh, party on Lonkero ! One doesn't get too many chances to just let loose and drink all weekend, so enjoy. But we need you back in sober shape for next week eh ? How long is this festival of yours, going to last anyways ?

Jooel, well, my project "for the week" is to get back to that thingie that you noticed quite some time ago. Remember the problem when one uses WKIX32.EXE and GUI ActiveX servers (forms, etc). When one does a SHOW on a window, for some reason, it ACTIVATES the wkix32.exe console. It doesn't look to be a problem with just forms, per se. I've been able to reproduce this problem when using wkix32 and Internet Explorer. If one fires of IE from wkix32, then makes the form VISIBLE, the console appears. Would really like to get to the bottom of this one.

that really is annoying...
other thing that comes up with wkix32 is that I can't set break on.
well, can set but it does not affect at all!

yes, I never really appreciated how much of a bad thing it was, until I started testing my loginbox.exe activeX control. I mean, it doesn't look too nice (professional) if your running a full windows gui, but there's still a DOS box hanging around in the background. I tried HIDING the DOS box at the top of the script, but then you get an annoying looking DOS BOX FLASH (you know, its there for a fraction of a second) ...

I think it has something to do with the DOS Console window being the primary owner (toplevel) window of all child windows, and showing a child automatically activates the parent ... just guessing at this point.

but the question is: why the dos box is the parent?
for pure windows (uttleast nt) kind off thinking,
it should be child which is shown only on request.

so this should maybe turned that it will never open dos-box until there is call for it.
maybe some new command or just it should strt invisible and show box only on setconsole show?

maybe should ask ruud for this.

I'm getting the dos box nowadays without those center and other stuff (4.10).

don't know.

cheers,

Shawn, do you also get the DOS-box if you use the 'invisible' parameter with WKix32 ?

WKix32 Script.kix -i

Shawn, I don't think you should take the blame on you!

The doc's says that no console is display'd if the script dosn't produce any output.
I believe that Ruud has not got this fully working, but the -i switch allocates no console at all, even if you produce output using AT/?/"Text" or SetConsole()

I had suggested that the default should be as -I (SetConsole(hide)) it this thread. Maybe I shoulda posted in "Suggestions". Shawn, perhaps you could borrow Ruud's ear.

Topic: wkix32 opens with console window

shawnie!
offcourse I knew that!
but erik told what's the problem with that.

and, then all scripts need to have shortcut to make the -i to run.

les has some suggestion but I'd go further like I said before, not consolewindow if it's not raised by example with setconsole show.

the i-switch can be kept there for total console abandoning and backwards compability...

yes it's still rolling...

having some fancy ideas of what I'll add to the stuff it looks for.
as an example I'll add code to check for logged on buddylist members...

also got some other wild ideas, but don't know may I make them happen. will see.

ok, going back to wash dishes (as I don't have wife to do it for me)

cheers,
