Jack, you know what, I scratch my head every time I see Radimus's rating. And it really pisses me off. Cripes, I rated Rad five stars probably the day after ratings started. Radimus's scripts have this nasty habit of standing the test of time, plus his scripts have this annoying (enviable) habit of becomming de-facto standards, example:
Q. "Anybody got a script to test OS"
A. "Oh shit yeah, see Radimus's OS.KIX script here ..."
Q. Just read about this WMI stuff, whats that all about, anybody got any scripts for that ?"
A. "Radimus !!!"
ROFL heheh - seriously - your a five star in my books ! Don't think theres a regular member on this board that wouldn't agree to that.

I never really got into that ratings thing much. I don't need others to pat my back, I do that enough, myself
I was kind of curious about it however... It has never changed since the ratings thing started way back when. Although I thing it was 16 votes for awhile...
code:
Your Rating Total Votes Weighted Score *** 17 3.37
And really... With Shawn and Les and Kent and a few others at 5, I'm comfortable at 3. (that way no one can complain about my lack of error checking code)

Dear Radimus,
Congratulations with 1000th post. It doesn't stay lone at the top. The amount of Millenium guys are growing and growing. Also the speed is going up. Possible interesting questions. Possible a lot of questions. Possible a lot of new members with new questions. Possible a lot of new capabilities with newest kixtart release. greetings.

Can we get a list of individual votes to see why that star rating doesn't change? I know Rad has gotten several 5 star votes today.

Dear,
FYI: what algorithm and policy is used by rating?
Related info about rating and weight
Member Ratings Formula
Interesting parts of it:
Here's my guess at how it works.
FinalRating = Sum([Vote]*[WeightForVote])/Sum([WeightForVote])
In other words, multiply each vote by its weight, add them all up, then divide by the sum of all the weights. So the first vote, the weightings cancel out.
Based on programmer of this part (Ted O'Neill from Infopop)
Hi JJS
I can explain it for you (since I wrote it). Graeme has explained how it works technically.
Let me try to put it into English
Basically, each rating is weighted based on the rating of the person doing the rating. Thus, if I have a 5-star rating myself and I rate you, my rating of you will carry more weight than someone rating you who has a personal of only 4 stars.
In other words, ratings from people with higher ratings themselves carry more weight than ratings from people with lower ratings.
Why do this?
This prevents low-rated members from having as much influence in a person's overall rating.
Hopefully it is clear now
greetings.
btw: you can find the code in file ubb_lib.cgi of UBB software.
