Is there a way to make the BOLD text listed below in my script FLASH or BLINK in order to get the end user's attention? I don't want the end user's to click the OK button because it would terminate the script. Any suggestions?

=============================================

$CHOICE = MessageBox("Your PC is being updated with new software. This update should take approximately thirty (30) seconds." + chr(13) + chr(10) + chr(13) + chr(10) + "If you have questions, please contact your Administrator at Ext. 123. Thank you for your patience!" + chr(13) + chr(10) + chr(13) + chr(10) +"This window will close in 10 Seconds.,***DO NOT CLICK the OK button.***"Preparing Software Upgrade",0480,20)

I don't believe so...

Besides You are assuming that your users will even read the message and/or understand it.

How about using sendmessage instead, by the time they get over the shock of having a window appear, and make the mouse move, then find the OK button; the install should already be over...

For the record, I'd like to say that it's not messagebox...

It is remarkably cool, and it would keep users entertained for a while (in my office, hours...)

I wonder if this would go over better than the progress bar for the logon script... My domain admins didn't like the kixgui progress bar, because they said users might think something was installing... Like the Please wait while your logon script runs wasn't specific enough...

I still like that ms agent logon script you did, remember ? You determined ther screen resolution then had Merlin fly around from one end of the screen to other ... reading books, cast'n spells, mapping drives and checking groups ...

hehehe

I took the merlin one flying around and incorporated it into our main login script then saved it as test.kix that is called from test.bat.
For entertainment, I send the link to test. bat and tell them to run it and that is what the new login script will look like!

Radimus,
For the record... you're right, it isn't MessageBox. I've got to take my pleasure where I can.
Just wanted to show thinking "Out of the (Message) Box". Isn't that what you did with the MRU thingy?
The Merlin thingy is probably the better idea anyway since we all know users can't (won't) read. Just distract them long enough with Merlin flying around and talking and before they can figure out what to do, it'll all be over.

Les,

I'm running Windows XP and Merlin works fine, however the majority of my users AREN'T running XP. Is there a way to get Merlin to work for those users?

Check out this thread.
Using MS Agent in KIX
It has some links to download Merlin and Genie (there are more). It works on all Win2k machines I've got. Not sure if it installs with Off2K or the OS. Can't speak for Wintendo.

Les,

This only works on boxes running Office 2000. Most of my users are still running Windows 97.
