I have a very weird problem I don't anybody see or know how to fix it. I setup my script to map drive Z: to users' home directory and it work fine on Win2k or NT but not Win9x. If I try to run the script from a DOS Prompt on any Win9x workstation, it mapped drive Z no problem. The command I use in script is like this

use z: "\\server\userhome"

If I changed the drive letter to Y:, then Kix mapped drive Y: to user's home directory. I try this on several Win9x workstation and they all have the same problem, can't map drive Z:.

I have KIXRPC installed on all PDC/BDC and Netlogon have all Kix's files.

When a Win9x computer logs on to the Domain , it temporary map's the last available drive letter (z in your case) to the netlogon share of the authenticating domain controller.

So when you try to map a share to z: in your logon script you get an error because z: is currently mapped to the netlogon share.

your solutions are,

1. use a different drive letter
2. Place a "net use z: \\server\share" in the runonce reg key (this will be executed after the users has authenticated to the Domain and the z: is no longer mapped)
