I'm tring to map homedirectory and share folders for the users on NT server and 98 and 95 mixed inviroment. Everything went smooth except that I have to share all the folders on the server to map drives. I don't like the fact that all the folders show up when users brows server through network neighborhood because all the folders are shared. I tried to hide the folders by using "$" at the end of share name, but kixtart wouldn't map drive after using "$" at the end of the share name. Can someone please help me.

slee,

You can use KiXtart to map to hidden shares. Here is a example from my login script.

eg.
use g: "$DataServer\GA-Finance$"
use j: "$DataServer\GA-HR$"

If this doen't help, try posting some of your login script so we can see what's happening.

Slee,

My example is cut from my login script and it has been working for years.

The $DataServer is a variable defining one of our servers. I only have one $ in the hidden share name and it works for me.

Thanks

Hi Greg,

I think you have just been lucky. I have never been able to get a single $ to work. The manual states:

code:

Note
The characters @, %, or $ are normally used to indicate macros, environment strings, or variables. If you want to use these characters in a string, use @@, %%, or $$.

I think it best to have new users use the correct syntax. It will make the code much more portable.
