I would appreciate your assistance in resolving a problem with a KiXtart login script for some users on specific Windows 95 machines. The script crashes out with the error message "A required.DLL file, \\SRV\DIR$, was not found". The Kixtart file Kix32.exe is version 3.63.0.0The Kixtart script problem is as summarised in the table below.
PC NAME | OS | User Name used | Login Error
---------------------|-----------------------|-------------------------------|-----------------------------------------------------------
ABC | Win95 | MNO | A required.DLL file, \\FOXTROT\ITSU$, was not found.
| | PQR | No error, script runs OK
| | ABC | No error, script runs OK
| | |
XYS | Win95 | ABC | A required.DLL file, \\FOXTROT\ITSU$, was not found.
| | PQR | No error, script runs OK
| | MNO | No error, script runs OK
I resolved the problem on some of the machines by reinstalling the Windows 9x OS. But I feel reinstalling is a drastic step that takes some time. My main difficulty is the error message does not show the missing DLL file. Is there a way to find out which DLL file the script is complaining of?
The Windows NT WS users do not have any problem nor do majority of the Windows 95 users. The odd thing about the problem is that the same user, say user A, does not have any problem with the script when logging on another Windows 9x machine nor do other users have any errors when logging to user A's PC.
Your help is appreciated.
