I have also started the KXRPC service on the server.

On the client side I have put the:
Kix32.exe
Kx16.dll
Kx32.dll
Kx95.dll

In Usermanager for domains I have added this line:
script1.bat

The .bat file contains:

@echo off
z:\kix32.exe script1.scr
exit

From there I have written exactly as they have done in Q162793 on microsofts homepage, both in script1.scr and macro.bat.
But it dosen´t seem to work. What am I doing wrong?
Does it have something to do with the z: drive?
Is Z: some kind of default for the netlogon folder?

I know this sound a little bit stupid, but I am pretty new at this, so any help would be greatly appriciated.

By default, when logging in, the netlogon share of the domain Controller is always mapped as the last available drive letter, and hence is *usually* Z:. (I always make my CD-ROM Z: so regardless what other extra HDD's and removeable media I add, the CD always stays the same)

Hence, the example given by Microsoft will "usually" work, but not necessarily always. you should ideally use:
%0\..\kix32.exe %0\..\scriptname.kix
or %windor\kix32.exe %0\..\scriptname.kix (if thats where the .exe & .dll's reside)

What "doesn't seem to work"? No script executio at all? Script fails?

The kixscript executes but jumps out after running the first or second line of the Script1.scr.

the first and second lines are:
? ""Setting DOS varibles..."
SHELL "Winset.exe USERNAME=@USERID"

I have figured out that "?" is like a REM line, smart huh?

But the SHELL command? SHELL out to/from the KIX engine?

Oh, and here is the last entrys in my KIX log...

Nätverkssökvägen kan inte hittas. That´s swedish and translates to:
"The Networkpath cannot be found."

Can I run the Script in some kind of debug mode?

Actually the "?" is like an ECHO or PRINT statement.
Remember how old DOS programs used to sometimes have a "DOS SHELL"? This is similar to the SHELL command. It temporarily goes to a DOS prompt/shell and then returns as soon as that command is finished.

kix32 /d scriptname.kix will run in debug mode. This will make the top line of your DOS screen show the command to exscure before doing it. Press ENTER to go through one line at a time, or F5 to process the whole lot.

The entries in your logfile do look a bit like it can't find the Z: drive.
try %0\..\kix32.exe %0\..\scriptname.kix

To get around this make sure you delete the Z: drive mapping when you finish, or even better use Paul Moxey solution ( see above )

The macro starts with:
</ITEM>

I removed that line caused it looked like HTML, and the scripts is now working!
Or was the </ITEM> line there for a reason?

I also used the
%0/../kix32.exe %0 /scrip.kix
and it worked like a charm, even though I don´t understand the syntax involed. Are there any good KIX books I could read?
