When you use Kixtart call by a Batch file during the logon Windows Process at the end of it the IPC$ Port stay active when you take a look on the netwatcher.
I try to make :
Use @Lserver+"\IPC$" /DELETE
on the Kix Script
and also
Net use \\Server\IPC$ /delete

And the IPC$ stay active for 10 to 15 Min

The KIX's version is 3.63.
and the client system receives the MSNET32.dll update.

Could you see wath's happend?
Does somebody already fix it?

I also noticed this on one W95 machine in my domain and haven't had time to look into it. If anyone has a cure, please fill us in.

Thanks.

Ok I don't have a WIN9x box to test on a this moment (it is sitting on the shelf above my head, and my NT test box is currently in use so i can't swap them out)

when you do

Use @Lserver+"\IPC$" /DELETE

could you also do a
? @serror
? @error

and let us know what you get?

Hi Barbe and others,

there's nothing to fix really, as IPC$ is a system share that is automatically created by WinNT & W2K system everytime they boot.

No need to try to get rid of it.

Cheers,

Hans

I agree with the fact that the IPC$Port is open during the Logon Process but when you use the "standard" batch logon files, the IPC$ is removed but not when you insert the Kixtart script inside the batch :-(((
