Using a nullifier infront of a command is indeed the way to suppress the '0'..,
But using $=.. could give problems when you try to connect to a hidden share:
USE D: "\\server\hiddenshare$" the $ at the end of the sharename which makes it hidden could be a variable if you used it to nullify a command.

Long story..!! I allways use this:
$Null=...
