I don't know what EA is, and frankly it doesn't matter to this question. You are trying to run an NT network and don't want to follow the rules. I didn't make them up and it doesn't matter what the workstations allow, the user accounts are kept on the server. You can't get around this. It is not a bug in kixtart. If you want to keep running with NT servers, you will have to make sure all your group names are 20 characters or less. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
