When I look at the manual I see the following:

Use USE "*" /DELETE to delete all current connections except those to a NETLOGON share and those to the drive or share from which KiXtart was started.

The Novell login script runs before the Windows logon script ( logon.kix ). I tested this on three machines with three users in the production environment and the only mapped network drives that they had were those from logon.kix.

After I replaced "*" with * and added the "/persistent" switch and then ran it the few remaining Novell mappings were there, as was the H:\ mapping. And, the undesired four mappings from the previous logon script ( logon.bat ) were no longer there! Can only assume that the "*" /DELETE /PERSISTENT removed ( aka deleted ) all existing mappings ( see manual extract ).

Anyway, all is well now.

And I am very glad that Novell is going to be removed. I much prefer WIN2000!
