Mit Mit Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-06-05 Posts: 36 Loc: Derby, UK	Hi, KiX is running absolutely beatifully in our company for all desktop clients. However, I've noticed that on laptop computers the logon script does not always run. It seems to be when the laptop is set to synchronise offline files but I've tried disabling that function but it didn't rectify the problem. If the logon script doesn't run then logging out of the laptop and then back in again usually runs the script. Logon script is coming from an NT4 domain and the laptops are running 2000 and XP (soon to be all running 2000). Any pointers greatfully received.

Is this occurring when the laptops are connected to the local network or remotely connected. How often does this happen if you let the laptop fully boot on the network and the permit the hard drive to get quiet before logging on? [ 22. Lonkero Lonkero KiX Master Guru Registered: 2001-06-05 Posts: 22346 Loc: OK	one cause hoby indeed got there. if the computer has been off the wire and is attached to it while it's running. or even, the network is applied and right away logged on, the network isn't established in time. simple rule to first connect the cable and then startup the machine does help in many cases _________________________ ! download KiXnet

Mit Mit Fresh Scripter Registered: 2002-06-05 Posts: 36 Loc: Derby, UK	I've tried leaving the PC connected for about 30 seconds after Windows 2000 has started up, and it's a 2 gig laptop so it shouldn't take THAT long to initialise the networking side of things should it? The problem occurs when the laptop is directly connected to the company network - we don't currently support remote working.

Different parts of the OS start at different time. In order to save you $$$ M$ provided faster "startup". That means means that the user can logon before ALL of the network components have started. Will Sloan Will Sloan Lurker Registered: 2003-09-22 Posts: 1 Loc: Nashville	Mit- We just experienced this same problem quite randomly across our local network. We are still working towards a global fix (which I will post as soon as attained) but in the meantime the affected laptop users were not synchronized with the network because of a server outage. When the laptops were connected to the network during the downtime the users could not sync up to their shared folders or mapped drives that referenced to the downed server. When the server came back up we experienced the exact same problem. Once we manually remapped the shares and drive mappings and disabled the sync it ran fine with no problems. The long of the short of it is that the synchronization option really pissed off the laptop and wasn't necessary to our environment so we killed it. Hope any of this helps... [ 23. It seems to me that the entire synchronisation manager aspect of Windows is a complete mess and totally unreliable. I think we'll be getting rid of it !!
