I am sure this is an old problem, but I have been searching the archives and cannot find a remedy...

I have a full AD domain with multiple W2K servers.
I have a logon script that works 100% with W2K and XP clients. However, it does not execute any of my drive mappings (based on if ingroup function...) on 9x clients when called from a logon batch file. It performs all other functions correctly, and works fine if run from the client pc command prompt or run from the start menu.

The RPC service and DLLs etc are on the servers.

Any clues?

Is KXRPC on all DC's?

Do you call the login script through a GPO or NT4-domain-style?

Can the Win9x clients run the login script from the command line after logon?

Yes, the script runs fine from the command prompt on all clients including 9x after logon!

...and it is called from the logon script setting held in the user's profile.

Cheers

What exactly do you have in that login box typed? Windows 9x computers must run the login script throught a batch file, thus 'KIX32 LOGIN.KIX' for example would not work.

Thanks,

Win 9x users scripts are called from a batch file, which contains the line:

%0\..\kix32.exe 95logon.kix

I know that it is finding the script and executing it, as the code all executes except that which deals with drive mapping.

Cheers

are you deleting any drive mappings?

are you doing anything with a Z: drive?

Do nothing that messes with the Z: drive during logon...

I have finally got to the bottom of the problem...

Firstly - upgraded to Kix 4.21

The Homedrive mapping problem was solved by inserting some different code for Windows 9x users (This did not work before version upgrade).

The Group drives were not mapping because I had a Return statement buried in a gosub after an endif instead of before. This was despite checking it dozens of times.

Sorry for the red herrings!

Thanks
