I am new to the scripting world and I have a problem. I need to run MS Patches on Win NT 4 WorkStat. for 300 users. All users are not part of Local Admin Group or any other Admin Group and the patches required to be run under Admin ID. Is there a script or a tool I can use to do this remotely. I tryed to run a script for net localgroup, but the user needs to be part of admin group first to run the net localgroup command.

Please see the FAQ Forum under Installing an Application as an Admin

Users should not be give administrative privileges. I'd highly recommend to distribute the patches from a administartive workstation via Task Scheduler as described in the FAQ referenced above. SU can be considered insecure and should not be used unless encryption is also implemented.

If you have a single account that currently has Admin access to the workstation, you could eiterh via script or my GrpMaint.exe program add the domain users global group into the local administrators group. Run your installation and as the last part remove the domain users group so that the users no longer have admin access.

I never used Task Scheduler before. Where can I get some instructions how to set it up and how can I install SU service remotely on the workstations?

IT would be a tougher go to install SU than to learn to schedule tasks. There are a coulple of UDFs already written to schedule tasks.

Read the FAQ we've pointed out to you. It explains everything in detail.
