ok, quick poster you are.
the netlogon share is there for all DC's as you are running NT domain.

mostlikely the location on local dir is:
c:\winnt\system32\repl\export\scripts

on the pdc.

YES!! It works now!
There was a Netlogon share, but I unshared it, moved all the files (most of which were added by scriptlogic, which is cool but WAAAAY to expensive) and created a new Netlogon share in the root. I guess I could've left it but... I added the kix32 and related files, made sure the user profile was set and logged in on the test machine and it worked like a charm.
Although, on the test machine, the console stays visible until i hit return. I added EXIT to the script, but it still stayed visible. Any ideas?

Sorry for any confusion, the PDC is NT4sp6a where kix32 is running. The print server and all workstations are Win2ksp3.
Thanks so much for all the help, you folks RULE!! Maybe when I get decent at this stuff I can give some help rather than just recieve.
Thanks again,
Joe

Please take a look at the KiXtart Manual and the FAQ Forum for ways to correctly set up KiXtart as a login script processor. I do not think your script is running as a login script if is located on the root folder of a domain controller. If it does, then your network is seriously messed up and you do have bigger problems than just making printer connections.

So, please take a step back, a deep breath and solve your problems step by step.

a) Create a very simple login script with just a 'Hello world' code
b) Get that one running
c) Set up replication for the NETLOGON share
d) Properly install the shared printer includign all printer drivers.
e) Add the printer mapping code

Test vigorously.

Appreciate the insight, but the network is tight, and the kix32 is in the Netlogon share which gives Domain users read/execute rights and admins total control.
We have very few, if any problem with this network config w/ Win NT servers, Win 2000 servers and workstations, OS X servers and workstations and OS 9 workstations.
Thanks again, I'm going home now.

I do not consider a network tight if the root folder of a domain controller is shared as the NETLOGON share. You need to recreate the NETLOGON share at the same location as to where you removed it.

jens is correct on this one.
as a start point, the default location for the scripts has proper security set automatically.
not just for usage but also cross DC replication.

you can ofcourse make it to be elsewhere but then you must be really carefull with the settings on the files and the share etc...
