Heres the scenario...

80 XP Pro users connected to an NT server.

To reduce the load on the main server have added all printers (around 30) to another NT4 BDC server.

Problem..
Printers were set up as local ports, ie map to \\[server name]\[Printer Name]

Now this server name has changed.. Is there a way to 1. add the new port, 2. configue the printer over to use the new port and then 3. finally delete the old port?

I think I can do step 2 by changing the port value in
HKLM\SYSTEM\SurrentControlSet\Control\Print\printers
once the port has been added.

I have also looked at the ADDPRINTERCONNECTION command, but I want to keep the exisitng drivers and not replace them with the drivers on the server. (Basically as we have had serious problems with directing unix traffic to our HP printers through XP)

Any ideas??
