Why don't you take a look at the UDF Forum, e.g. Err() or DisplayText()? However, this is something you have to design into your script, you can't just say, hey, log all return codes whereever/whenever into a file.

You can add @ERROR and @SERROR after any/all commands and set those to vars and then write a descriptive log file to a central location if you want as well.

heh, for me redirectoutput is selective.

it prints out all errors and execution delays I want.

if you use udf for the same task (like I did eventually, do a one liner with "@serror @error @date @time @msecs")...

yea, it's not any easier with udf, you just need to take care about using it wherever so it might come out even harder.
