hathor hathor Fresh Scripter Registered: 2003-03-08 Posts: 10 Loc: antwerp	hello, i want to make a scipt that automatically generates 15 maps and a share (in .bat) can i do this with NET USE or is that for something completely different?

Sealeopard Sealeopard KiX Master Registered: 2001-04-25 Posts: 11165 Loc: Boston, MA, USA	Not sure what you mean with generate 'maps', I'd normally think of geographic information with regards to maps. Anyway, NET USE will associate a drive letter on a local computer with a shared directory on a loca/remote computer. RMTSHARE (from the Windows Resource Kit) can create shares of directories that are located on local/remote computer. However, RMTSHARE requires appropriate administrative privileges. Please search the KiXtart BBS for RMTSHARE to retrieve relvant articles. And please provide more details in your questions as specified in ABC's of KiXtart board etiquette and message to new forum users _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.

We alrady explained to you how to map a drive letter to a shared directory and how to share a directory. RMTSHARE is used to create a share of an existing folder/directory. It might be time for you to read about the various command-line utilities available and actually read the associated help files, e.g. MD /? [ 17. I double-checked all your questions you've posted so far and they really touch the very basics of computer/systems admin/management. It might be better if you take a look into a introductory book about Windows first. hathor hathor Fresh Scripter Registered: 2003-03-08 Posts: 10 Loc: antwerp	sorry but as i already mentioned im really new to this we only had one lesson about all this scripting and i missed it so thats we im kinda screwing around with it but i have figured it out now you have clarified alot of things for me and i now know where i was wrong and misled yes it was a matter of misconception and no my english is quite adequate but we do not have any of these manuals in dutch and well it sometimes can get really confusing like for instance with the small difference between making shares and connecting to a share yes our teacher uses the word map and share also for regular folders so im sorry if i used the wrong wording again thank you for your help you helped me alot with gaining further insight and sorry if u feel that youre being taken for granted i was just feeling a little bit despondent after trying out so many commands for like two hours without any result
