I want to disable the preview pane in Outlook. Here is the script that I'm tring to use:

WriteValue ("HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\00020D75-000-0000-C000-000000000046}\Shell\Open\Command", "(Default)", "C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE /nopreview", "REG_SZ")

After the sript runs the changes aren't made.

basically change the "(default)" to an empty string ""

correct would be:

I'm using the following:

WriteValue('HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\00020D75-000-0000-C000-000000000046}\Shell\Open\Command', '', 'C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~2\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE /nopreview', REG_SZ)

The /nopreview is not added in the registry

you have missed the one "{" in the class-id subkey

Thanks, I added the { but /nopreview isn't added.

Here is the script I used:

so, this shows that it can't be with hacking but you need to do real cracking.

I may check out the outlook setting that rules this...

I can see a real problem come to light..

One person may have MICROS~2 another may have MICROS~6..

Try this..

I found a way to write it but it needs you to run outlook first and then execute the scriptlet.

at least, I didn't find any syntax that would have worked otherwise...
ofcourse the problem might be that there is version inconsistency... or something.

Okay, i'm jumping in late, however, I would disable this through either policies or through a preconfigured Office rollout via the Custom Installation / Custom Maintenance Wizard from the Office Resource Kit.
