Dear Les,
Please don't use abbreviations on the starters forum. On the whole board only seven times this STFB was used.
STFB stands for Search The 'Friendly' Bulletin Board.
Another more common one is: RTFM = Read The 'Friendly' Manual
greetings.

Hello hathor and Welcome to the board.
I'll try to be a little kinder then my buds here.
First off when you say you want to create 20 users, do you mean FULL NT/2000 Network ID Accounts?
Please list a little more information and I'll try to help you get through this.
1. What version of KiXtart are you using? 2. What Network? NT or 2000 AD? 3. What all client types do you have to support, meaning 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP? 4. Do you have Domain Admin or OU Admin Rights? 5. What OS is your Workstation?
Then list examples of the server names and locations that you would like to map.
After answering these questions I (or others) will be able to help you further.
Thanks...

1. well i downloaded a zip file kix2001_420 i simply copied those unzipped files into my programs directory. 2. i work on windows 2000 advanced in vmware they said it should be compatible for every client system)4. i dont have a domain or anything like that. All they wanted me to do was create 20 users and some groups, i also have to create 15 maps and each user or group has specific rights on one or more of those maps thats like the only thing i know here how to place security on them 5. im working on xp professional
i simply call them map1-map15 and place them under a share called 'verslagen' thats reports in dutch -> c:\verslagen\map1 so its all local on my own system in vmware can i do this all in command prompt? or do i need something extra?

off course i do not want a full script written by someone else because then i still wouldnt understand how to make it myself. btw we can place the security in win2000 itself so thats not any problem im just asking for a few directions. on how to make that batch file that creates users and groups and a kixfile that puts a mapping between the users and their maps i was wondering if i had to make a file with notepad and give it the right extension or if everything is done via command prompt cause i heard different versions
