What happens when the KiX RPC service on the DCs are of different versions as the KIX32.exe? What happens then? What about if we want to upgrade versions of KiX? How do we upgrade the KiX RPC service? I'm thinking more in the long run, when we will need to upgrade the KiX engine. Wouldn't there be an extra thing to do now?

On the rare occaision it is, it is backwards compatible so you update it first. A 5 minute job. A better solution is to get rid of all the Wintendos and hence the need for KXRPC. _________________________ Give a man a fish and he will be back for more. Sealeopard Sealeopard KiX Master Registered: 2001-04-25 Posts: 11165 Loc: Boston, MA, USA	And if you would take a look at the KiXtart package, you would see that it contains a batch file to remotely install the kxrpc.exe on your domain controllers. You don't even need to reboot the systems. Also: Just because something works, doesn't mean that it works correctly, you might have just been lucky. _________________________ There are two types of vessels, submarines and targets.

Of course KXRPC doesn't have a meaning for NT-based systems, but in his first line he was talking about windows9x machines, His logon script doesn't work on those machines. We advise him to follow the step Kix upgrade: what are those new features? can upgrade be done without any danger? I have my fingers crossed. I will keep you guys updated on the situation. [Lonkero] I am curious about how you implemented KiX without the need for KiX RPC. Are you running on a NT4 domain or W2K domain model?

Lonkero Lonkero KiX Master Guru Registered: 2001-06-05 Posts: 22346 Loc: OK	nt4. neither I did copy the kix executable to clients... nor I do that now either. there is nothing awesome in that. the need for kxrpc is for some special stuff only and that special stuff is not needed for basic domain logon. and complex domain logon I denied from win9x clients now, we don't have those anymore and I don't need the batch-file anymore either! happy happy, joy joy! _________________________ ! download KiXnet
