We're experiencing a problem when kix32.exe is in use by another client logging in, a second client (windows 95 only) does not run kix32 at all. If the second client is NT, it runs fine.

Read the Kix documentation. Copy Kix32.exe to your Windows\system folder and rename it as lmscript.exe. Also copy the Kx32 and 16 Dlls to the same folder.

This should cure things...forgive me if I am teaching my grandmother to suck eggs!

Also make sure that at the end of the script you have something like the following:

COOKIE1

Exit

This is needed to stop the script with W95 clients.

Hope this helps.

Tried that but didn't have any luck. The 95 client still does not run kix at all when kix32 is in use in the netlogon share. One solution would be to just run kix locally, but we've been trying to avoid this...

Have you made sure that the login script name in the Profile section of User Manager -
for each W95 user is something like the this:

login.kix (or whatever your script is called)

and for NT users is

kix32.exe login.kix

This should make it work!

Post again if you are still in trouble.

I had the same problem when a number of 95 clients were allocated the same script only some actually ran it. I traced it down to a known windows problem. the dll msnet32.dll in the windows\system directory must be version 4.00.952 if it is not I would try copying in the new version.
