Do we need to install the script-service under W2K or have we only to use kix32.exe mentioned in the login bat?

You need to copy the binaries to the \NetLogon share and if you have Wintendos, install the KXRPC service. This is all explained in the manual.

You might also want to read the FAQ Forum, especially Kixtart Starter's Guide , Kixtart Deployment , KXRPC - Everything you wanted to know about KXRPC , How to use UDFs .

And please utilize the KiXtart BBS Search function and RTFM.

In the manual etcetera I only read about WindowsNT. Is installing Kix under Windows2000 the same as WindowsNT or are there things I've to think of?

Windows 2000 is NT5.  The only difference when installing is the path.

I used the generic term \NetLogon share. Any SysAdmin worth his(her) salt would know the real path.

There's one pitfall, though. Window XP interprets %0\..\ differently, thus breaking a batch file that call a KiXtart script as documented int he KiXtart Manual. The manual recommends %\..\kix32.exe %\..\login.kix which will not work under Windows xP and is not necessary for Windows NT/2000.

See Mixed Win9x, W2K, WinXP Workstations for more info.
