Hi!

Well .... where are the musicians under the kix-scripters ???

For standard-PCs without Soundcard / .WAV-Output I´m searching for an melody to play at the end of my kix-scripts.

Anyone filling the gap ?

Regards,

Luzie

Hi Luzie,

Well, you can try to play the .spk files (found in the samples folder of the Kix source) with the PLAY command, but that only works on older systems, the new hardware doesn't support that any more.

(I reported this to Ruud van Velsen once, and he gave me the answer above)

and what is new hardware.
I just took the adaams.spk turned it to script (changed the name and added the play)
and it ran. here is the code:

Ruud's original answer (in Dutch) 26-11-2001:
----------------------------------
----------------------------------

My Translation:
----------------------------------
PLAY (unfortunately?) doesn't work any more on several modern systems. That's because of the outdated methode of producing sound, and there's nothing anyone can do about it. Maybe someday I will do something with the 'real' sound interfaces.
----------------------------------

That's all the info I have, Lonk. They don't play on my system anymore (Compaq Armada E500 P3 - 650).

You could always use BEEP to beep something,, However, the true meaning might be up to interpretation. Also, the BEEP service (no kidding!) can be disabled under Windows NT/2000/XP.

BTW, I'd find any kind of sound cue at the end of a regular login script utterly annoying, especially if I have to listen to it 20 times a day.

Dear,

It is possible to play all kind of music, which doesn't have any restriction.

What are we doing? We convert a nice MP3 song to an EXE file. This EXE file
contains his own player.
Each time we like some background music during f.e. a long installation process
we start our EXE file with a kixtart RUN statement.
greetings.

btw: a nice program for converting MP3 to EXE is from http://mp3toexe.exe. It
isn't freeware, but some of you knows a free one.
