Jesse, I'm in the same boat you're in and our backgrounds sound similar. AutoIt (and others) was my method of scripting infection. KiX, by far, is the best yet.

I think the best way to learn is to do. Play around with it. I picked up a lot by writing a GUI-based logon script using KiXGUI. Not only teaches you KiX scripting, but COM scripting as well. Go through the samples and get a hang of what's going on in them.
