Hi

Trying to use kix with windows 2000 professional pc. Trying to map directly to the user drive using the following code :

code:
 IF (@INWIN=1 And @DOS="5.0")
SHELL "NET USE U: \\gfclnt03\users"
CD U:\Users\%username%
ENDIF

The only problem is that it wont go straight to the users named folder - it goe's one level above to the users drive.

Any idea's???

Try the following:

USE U: "\\gfclnt03\users"

That should map the users folder, as long as users is shared.
You can then:

cd u:\%username%

Hope this helps...

Hi

I have to go one level deeper than this to the users named directory i.e. \\gfclnt03\users\cazzjh. This is so the users only see their data and not everyones.

OK

You will need to share the users folders first, I have mine shared as hidden shares.

Once shared you can then map the drive

use u: \\server\username$

Hope this helps...

Tried both solutions - none work - still will only go to the root directory and not the users personal folders - Am I missing something or should this work?? [Confused]

You guy are off base. With Win2k you need not share out each user's folder. KiX can map below the share.

Use $DRV "\\Server\Share\@UserID"

And read the Kixtart Manual Appendix A 'The MAP ROOT issue' which describes issues with deep redirection under various Windows operating systems.
