How do you refresh the group cache? I have my kix32.exe on my domain controllers. The users execute directly to kix32.exe and not from a batch file.

I know these commands:
KIX32 /f
KIX32 /f:2001/12/31

How do I run them from my kixtart.kix without having to call my kixtart.kix from a batch file?

You don't run them from the .KIX code, you pass the switch when calling KIK32.exe or WKIX32.exe by just adding /F to the line.

Can I ask a question ?

Why do you want to flush the cache ?

Or more specifically, why do you need to flush the cache more often than the default of 30 days ?

I need to flush it because I send out mapped drives by group membership. I changed a group name in W2K active directory now I can't map the drive since I changed the name. It is like the person isn't a member of the group.

------------------------------------------------

--this is from the kixtart 4.10 manual---this is why I need to flush the cache.

The group-membership cache is stored in the registry hive of the current user and contains security-identifier-to-groupname mappings. Changes to a user's group-membership are automatically handled by KiXtart during the next logon.

Note
If an existing group is renamed, that change will not be visible to KiXtart until the next time the token-cache is refreshed.

The cache is automatically refreshed every 30 days.

Ok tell me this..

How do I know if my cache has been refreshed.

Is there a place in the registry where I can tell [Eek!] or some other way?

The token cache is kept here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KiXtart\TokenCache

This works quite well.. Finally a good solution that you can add and remove from your script easily with no headache.

To refresh the Group Token cache in the registry just cut and past this code in your script. Put it in the beginning of your script before Ingroup statements.

DelKey("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\KiXtart\TokenCache")
