Heh, thats funny, I was thinking exactly the same thing earlier today. A really slow day at "the org" [relatively speaking that is ]. There aren't any major holidays in the world today (to the best of my knowledge). I was peeking at some of the netstat numbers and there wasn't a drop in page-views or visitors or anything like that, guess like you say, everything is just humming along nicely. Kix on !
Just an FYI, the busiest day the org has had so far was on April 16th of last month. You might have seen that we had 131 visitors in the span of 30 minutes. But interestingly, according to netstat, the daily visitor page-views for that day jumped from an average of 1300 to about just over 3200 ... not too sure what was so special about that day. hmmm...

Heres some more info about our visitor/member demographics:
code:
# Country/Origin 1. United States 155208 24.5 % 2. Netherlands 63841 10.1 % 3. US Commercial 46036 7.3 % 4. United Kingdom 41350 6.5 % 5. Germany 26020 4.1 % 6. Canada 22160 3.5 % 7. Network 20343 3.2 % 8. France 17705 2.8 % 9. Australia 15261 2.4 % 10. Denmark 12746 2.0 % Unknown 113120 17.8 % The rest 100405 15.8 % Total 634195 100.0 %
I guess these numbers are pageviews but not too sure how that works.

Canada's page hits are so low because their internet access is so flaky... Just look to see how many times Shawn's MSN Messenger comes on line per day

Shawn, save some of those good Canadian beverages...that may keep that toilet seat from going up and own so frequently. ![[Smile]](images/icons/smile.gif) [ 07 May 2002, 06:19: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

I think I understand.
Since you use "if $FileExists" where the variable is the name of the function, @error is set to the function value overiding the "exit 2".
If you "dim $FileExists" then @error reports correctly.
If you "$FileExistxx = exist($filename) if $FileExistxx" then @error reports correctly.
If you "$nul = FileExists()" then @error reports correctly.
If you permit the function to report it value, it display its value "0" and then you ask @error to print which seems to have been set to the value of $FileExists as well. [ 07 May 2002, 06:55: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

My initial findings were erroneous.
I think you uncovered a bug. I substituted a valid file and changed the "exit 0" to "exit 4". The function returned "1" but @error was still "0".
There is some relationship with exist() that short circuits the functions ability to properly return an exit code.
But this behavior only seems to occur when the function name assignment involves the return value of exist()
I have even tried code:
function FileExists($filename) ;dim $FileExists $FileExist = exist($filename) $FileExists = $FileExist if $FileExist ? "exit 0" ? ;$FileExists = 1 exit 4 else ? "exit 2 @@error = @error" ? ;$FileExists = 0 exit 2 endif endfunction
This fails but if you uncomment the $FileExists within the "IF" it works. [ 07 May 2002, 07:18: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]

the return value for Exist() must be something more or less then a straight "1" or "0". In fact, Exist() returns a "Boolean" not an integer.
? VarTypeName(Exist("blah-blah"))
How are Booleans interpreted? It appears that Functions do not like to return Booleans. ![[Frown]](images/icons/frown.gif) [ 07 May 2002, 07:29: Message edited by: Howard Bullock ]
