Getting the hang of it

Hi team,

my company recently moved to Office 365 and we now have One Drive for Business available to store personal documents. I'd like to develop a script that automatically moves some local files to One Drive for Business to ensure that they are backed up in the cloud.

So far, so good. But how do I find out where One Drive for Business is storing it's local files? Normally, this is in users profile in the \One Drive for Business folder, but there are scenarios where this path can be different. So I need to look up the path somewhere in the registy I suppose.

Closes match I've found so far is LocalSyncClientDiskLocation (REG_MULTI_SZ) under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet

But this entry contains also directories for Sharepoint sites the users is synching so I still don't know for sure which of these paths is the path to the One Drive for Business files. Ok, dirty trick is to search for "OneDrive" in the strings, but if possible I would prefer a better, more reliable approach, if available.

Any ideas from you guys?

Many thanks in advance and don't forget: I sync, therefore I am!

It's been some time since I even looked at this UDF, but I put together GetWebFolder at one time to check for Dropbox, Gdrive, and one that was called Skydrive, now called OneDrive. Maybe it will give you some direction.

Hi Allen,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, One Drive and One Drive for Business are 2 very different products. Your UDF deals with One Drive (formerly know as Sky Drive) and the Registry keys can't be used the same way for One Drive for Business...

It says here:-

https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/148/t/273234

that:-

For OneDrive for Business in Office 365, it’s not feasible to change the OneDrive for Business sync path by using registry keys. The only way is changing the path when getting started to sync a new library.

Cheers,
