I hear you... but - GPOs run the script in a different token space, and the only way to get mapped drives on a MS Windows 7 or VISTA platform with UAC is to employ a hack that Microsoft won't support? (We reviewed this with our TAM a few months back and learned it was an "unsupported configuration", which is why we still use a login script for mapping resources, and logon scripts for other, specialized tasks.)
I would think that a more supportable fix would be to run standard login scripts instead of GPO Logon scripts for drive mapping, which run in the current user context. Otherwise, if you have a problem, you either need to change to login scripts to get support, or lie to your MS tech.
It still isn't directly a Kix issue (although I'm not such a "purist" that I'd be against discussing it..) Maybe it's too many years in enterprise environments, but this kind of thing makes me cringe.
