Is there a way to add shortcuts from folders that leave in a network share to Windows 7 Start menu. Also these shortcuts have subfolders, so I need the user to view everything in it. I tried creating taskbar of the folders, but i am not able to change the names of the taskbars, i am but i do not want to change the name of the folders. Any ideas in doing this with Kix scripts.

thanks.

You could use the PinIt() udf to pin it to the start menu.

UDF Library » PinIt() - pin to start menu

Awesome UDF function, but I am a little confused in how to use it? How would I call it out, and within the PinIt() the first variable should have the path of where shortcut lives? and the second variable? is it the name of the shortcut or the name you gave it to show up on the start menu??

thank you.

See if this one fits your needs. I think it's more direct and flexible.

PinTo() - http://www.kixtart.org/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=197722&Main=197722#Post197722

See the FAQs for how to use a UDF, and the header for examples.

so Allen, if I had a folder located in a network share drive, and I created a Shortcut of the folder and keep it in the location where the original folders lives. How would i call out the PinTo() function? the folder is located in G:\Application\Forms\Templates\GlobalForms, and the shortcut was made from GlobalForms folder "GlobalForms.lnk" how would i call it in a kix script using your UDF. Also there are several folders with this "GlobalForms" folder will i get a submenu pop up or will a new window explorer pop up with all the files. I am trying to make it user friendly like the way Windows XP had there start menu pin up. the folder had a little arrow and when you highlight it a submenu pops up with all the templates and folders within "GlobalForms". Can you show me how to use your PinTo(). I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for you help.
