Hello everyone,
In trying to complete a different project I stumbled across KiXtart. I would like to use it for my network but I have a few questions. My server is running Windows 2000 Advanced with 15 or so XP clients. I would like to have a script that runs at logon that
1.Maps a few network drives
2.Adds printers, if not added
-Depending on the computer, not the user, sets the default printer
3. Gets desktop icons from the server
And on logout run CCleaner in /auto mode
Is this at all possible with KiXtart? Could you please direct me as to where I might find this information? Also, now this sound like an insane beginner question. I downloaded the program to try it… but how do I install it? And must it be installed on every computer on the network or just the server?
Thank you guys for all your help
-Ian

No, you don't need to install anything to the client machines - you can run it from a share such as NETLOGON.

Or you can have it run under a GPO. The ways are many, and yes, with kix you can do what you want easily.

Would not recommend a copy of icons on your item #3 though.
Much better to just create the shortcut on the fly with KiX and a pre-coded UDF (User Defined Function)

There are over 600 UDF scripts already written to do just about anything you can think of on a Network. The good thing is, that if there is not one to do what you want already you can get help to write one and then share it with others.
