I was seeing exactly the same thing. In our case we had upgraded our corporate domain controller to Win2k, and I found that adding the Domain Users global group to the 2k controllers 'Pre-Windows 2000 Compatible Access' local group solved the problem.

Hopefully in a future release of kix they will make the application fully 2000 enabled so it does not need this.
