I have a simple script to copy files from a mapped drive to the local c: drive. When I use 4.60 the files are not copied to the proper dir. Instead they are copied to the root of c: When I use 4.00 RC1 (which is what we are using now in the company) the files are copied properly. I can't figure out what is going on. Is there something bloody obvious that I'm missing?

 Code:
$dest = "C:\temp"
if ingroup ("IS") and exist ("$dest")
	copy "G:\Visual Studio\SSIS Templates\*" "$dest"
	? "Version: " + @kix
endif

$dest will actually be quite long with many spaces which is why I put it in a variable. There are only 2 files in the source directory.
The only way I can get 4.60 to work is to specify the full path in the source and destination.
This code will work since we are still on 4.00 RC1, but I would like to make this work with the latest version if we ever roll it out.

Well (IMHO) there are still a few bugs/issues with 4.60 and I myself would not use it for any production work until these items are ironed out.

I (as well as some other long term members) continue to use 4.53 as the defacto production standard.

Please try your coding with 4.53 and let us know.

Been running 4.60 in production for several months now and had no issues other then one or two coding errors.

Isn't this just the trailing \ issue, copying to c:\temp\ will work but c:\temp will not work?

There are a couple of minor issues listed in the BUGS forum that have not been addressed as of yet.

Granted with so many things that KiX can do it is unlikely that most users will run into these issues, but for those that do it can be quite frustrating to find that it's actually the version and not your code that is the culprit.

If you're happy with 4.60 that's cool. I would rather flesh out more of the issues though before I start using it. Since Ruud seems to be busy and unable at this time to respond then there is no alternative to getting such bugs fixed right now.

Changed to c:\temp\ instead of c:\temp and 4.60 worked.

That's well and fine but then if it behaves differently from version to version for the same operation then that's a BUG and needs to be addressed.

Like I said you can easily work around most of the posted bugs but I choose not to. 4.60 is not currently offering me anything that 4.53 doesn't do so I'm okay until it gets fixed.

Doc, I want to support you. I also have the feeling this is a bug. But AFAIK this has always been described in the kix2010.doc

COPY
Action
Copies one or more files or directories.

Syntax
COPY "source" "destination" [/h] [/s]

If the source or destination specifies a directory, please make sure to add a trailing backslash.

IMHO newer versions of KIX should not break scripts, if possible.

Well I did not write or test any code. I based my comments on the fact he said he used 4.53 and it worked.

I did spend numerous hours though a long time ago and sent e-mails to Ruud and finally got many of the 4.53 copy/del/rd etc features so that they mimicked the similar DOS methods. Just didn't feel like going over it again.

IF the same exact code works on 4.53 or previous and does not work on 4.6 and it has not been clearly documented as a known change and it's unexpected then its a bug to me.

Thanks for pointing out the slash though as it is important and maybe his code was slightly modified and he didn't notice at the time of testing.
