LOL.

I wonder if the politicians really thought this through or if they are just kissing the feet of European Commissioner for Competition Neelie Kroes. She has been all over MS the last few years just like a diaper. Always on your back and full of sh#t.

IMHO this is a bad idea. But who am I? Just one of the people voting each four years so why should they care about my opinion?

Well I wonder how that will work out logistically.

1. Current Windows software licensing models (what happens to them legally)
2. There are millions of Windows Tech Support people, and probably only thousands of Linux Tech Support people (just because you dabble with it at home doesn't make one an expert)
3. Who, When, How - does one keep up on Security for Office Apps, other Apps, or OS if they don't standardize on a single LINUX/UNIX/BSD/etc OS ?
4. Who is to blame when a noobie mis-configures something on Linux and the whole system is down and takes a day or more to get it back up as they didn't know what they were doing, or someone hacks into their site due to lack of knowledge on that platform.

Just seems like a knee jerk reaction to me. Not saying not to go to open source, but that too needs a LONG TERM solid plan of operation and deployment.
