I love falling space debris. In '95 the Perseids were falling one summer. I was getting ready for the show that evening with a friend (lawn chairs, toaster oven eggrolls, etc.) and at around 9pm when it was still sunny outside and the sky was still blue, I saw this massive fireball enter the atmosphere with a smokey explosion that shattered the object into five pieces. The main object left a trail of gray smoke behind a bright red, orange, and yellow trail. It must have been streaking through the sky for about 6 seconds before it went past a tree-line and I lost sight of it.
That was the most amazing meteor I've ever seen.
