having a negative connotation and being someone that hangs around a school yard is a bit different to me.
Seeing as though we're here as COMPUTER GEEKS and Dictionary.com shows item #4 as this:
4.Chiefly Computers. to read or observe an ongoing discussion without participating in it, as in an Internet newsgroup.
I would think that is MUCH more appropriate for the meaning of the term as used here.
