KiXgolf Tournament 2007

The following are the tentative dates for the KiXgolf Tournament 2007. Each round will be played from Friday to the following week Sunday. Wednesday evening will be the switch from private to public coding. The rounds are arranged in ascending order of difficulty, the last and most difficult one will also be the most fun one, in my opinion, and will open a can of mischief \:\)

The tournament titles are just a high-level description of the actual round without giving away too much.

Cryptography: 2007-08-03 to 2007-08-12
Wordsmithing: 2007-09-07 to 2007-09-16
Pachinko : 2007-10-05 to 2007-10-14
Printing : 2007-11-09 to 2007-11-18
Monty Python: 2007-12-07 to 2007-12-16

Scoring for the KiXgolf Tournament is as follows:
  • 1 Point for each participant that posts a KiXgolf script during the public coding round (must be either a new solution or an improvement to an existing solution)
  • x Points for 1st to 5th place in either the private or public round in reverse order, thus 1st Place = 5 points down to 5th Place = 1 Point
  • 1 Point for the 1st to 5th Place in the private coding round (if valid script was posted in public round)
Each participant will be scored according to their lowest posted KiXgolf score in either the public or private round.

So, get your favorite text script editors ready, polish your clubs, and start practicing.

And to celebrate the new tournament I'm throwing in a freebie to warm up on. There's no private coding round per se but you can definitley hold off posting your code solutions until a couple of other participants have posted KiXgolf scores. This round is designed to (re-)introduce the concept of KiXgolf. Newcomers are welcome, the algorithm to be implemented is so easy that it can be modeled in Excel.
