Sealopard,
Many thanks for your reply.Does the print server have the Vista-specific digitally signed printer drivers installed?
It does have the digitally signed printer drivers.
Anyway, I found a solution to my problem, so I thought I would post the answer so that anyone else who 'suffers' the same problem can benefit from this.
To prevent the "Install Printer Driver?" dialogue box on Windows Vista edit the following GPO...
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers
Edit the "Point and Print Restrictions" policy.
There are two "Security Prompt" settings...
- "When installing drivers for a new connection"
- "When updating drivers for an existing connection"
Set both of these to "Do not show warning or elevation prompt".
My KiX logon script now creates the appropriate printer connections without prompting the users.
Problem solved! ;-)
